Eines meiner absoluten high lights des letzen Jahres, mochte die Charaktere, den Schreibstil und das moody Setting. Auch die poly-Beziehung war sehr gut umgesetzt und es war spannend mal einen männlichen Prota zu haben.

I gotta say, I am delighted. I first came across Rin Chupeco‘s Silver Under Nightfall when they announced a book project that would be like Castlevania if Castlevania were brave enough to make its OT3 canon. I’ve never watched the series but I’ve seen the fanart, so that was enough for me. And I had so much fun - as in laughing out loud in the middle of the night, all HAHAHA (until I remembered my neighbours). I think I really needed that after a stressful October. So, what’s it about? Vampire hunter Remy Pendergast teams up with vampire couple Song Xiaodan and Zidan Malekh to investigate both a murder and a strange new strain of vampirism that threatens their shared world. Plus the beginning of a polyam relationship, plus a lot more serious notes about trauma, being an outcast and the desperation of trying to find your place. The book centres the action of the plot and the relationship, so everything else ties in along the way. Also vampire horses, I loved those especially. Does the plot occasionally seem to use any excuse to have the characters enjoy some horny bliss? Yeah … but honestly, I thought that this, too, was extremely funny. So, if this is something you’re looking for: flawed, lovable main character with sliiiiiiight himbo qualities (slight!!), an action-driven plot and plenty of fight scenes, vampires and humans being horny, you screaming at characters to just let themselves be loved? Then please consider giving Silver Under Nightfall a go. CN: gore, sexual coercion (?) (specifically an exchange of necessary information for sexual favours) incl. involving a minor (mentioned)
