Single mum Callie is attending a school trip of her daughter to the town Rowan Vale in the Cotswold, which is run as a living museum. Arriving in a steam train was the perfect start into the trip but when she sees two young fellows arguing and starting a light fight this is too much for Callie, as the kids could witness this. When she is having a word with them it is already a bit strange and she wants to inform the manager of this cute town. When she meets the elderly owner Sir Lawrence Davenport she is in for a big surprise! The strange encounters she had in the villages occurred, as she is seeing persons in the village, which nobody assumes she can, as they are ghosts. Due to this she gets an unbelievable offer. For 10 pounds the village is sold to her, all she needs to do is taking care of the spirits and the human tenants as all needs to be handed over to somebody who can see all the spirits. What will Callie due especially as she is afraid to acknowledge that she can see spirits and suppress this for quite some years? What a nice story! I really like the writing and the idea sounded really great. I am so glad, that the author created here such a wonderful story with wonderful characters. The way Rowan Vale is described, I would love to spend time there, see the village and would hope to be able to see the spirits for myself. The human character are well worked out and I like how natural it is for them to live together with family members or only to be around spirits even so they are unable to see them. Callie I really like that first she doesn´t like to admit that she can see spirits, due to the hard past she had. Her daughter Immi I loved right from the start. For me she was so much fun in the book. Brodie was not the nicest person at the beginning of the book but I can understand how hard it is for him. The village and the spirits mean a lot to him but as he is unable to see them he know he must hand over all he loves to somebody else. How hard this is. I really like how we get to know him better here. The different spirits, from different time periods, are wonderful worked out and I like them quite a lot. Especially the young Florrie, even so she appears to be a bit rude, is causing a lot of things in the book, which I liked very much to read. This is a wonderful story about trust, love, friendship, acceptance, being different, ... I really liked reading this book, had a good time with it and for sure will look out for the next book in this series.

Was eine süße, gemütliche Geschichte. Sie passt perfekt in den Herbst. Das Buch ist gut geschrieben, sodass man es nicht aus der Hand legen kann! Die Geschichte ist süß, spannend, geisterhaft und einfach nur gemütlich! Callie ist mit Ihrer Tochter auf Klassenfahrt in einem Dorf und bekommt sofort am Bahnhof eine Krise, als sich zwei Herren streiten. Callie ermahnt die Beiden und erwähnt auch, dass sie sich beim Landbesitzer beschweren wird. Dies passiert, aber der Gutsbesitzer Lawrie bietet ihr das Gut an, weil er zu alt wird sich weiter zu kümmern... Das Problem, meint Callie....Es gibt auf dem Land Menschrn und Geister. Und die Geister hat sie am Bahnhof gesehen... Callie wollte erst ablehnen, sagt dann zu und diese wundervolle Geschichte kommt so richtig in Fahrt...
