Nolite te bastardes carborundorum

Bewertung am 17.11.2025

Bewertungsnummer: 2657242

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

If you want to experience women's rage and find yet another reason to be angry at the systems built by and for men read this book. The book shows just how terrifyingly close our reality can come to the dystopia inside its pages. It’s a warning not just fiction.

A Heart-Stopping Page-Turner

Bewertungsnummer: 2380727

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale is a gripping page-turner that keeps readers on edge with its haunting dystopian world and relentless suspense. The emotional depth of the characters makes it impossible not to form a deep connection with their struggles and hopes, drawing readers further into the story. Its powerful narrative and unflinching exploration of control, resistance, and humanity leave a lasting impression.

"America wasn't Gilead until it was..."

Bewertet: eBook (ePUB)

This book gave me chills. We follow June, a young woman serving as a handmaid for the politically influential commander Fred Waterford, who has been forced to give up everything, even her own name; she is now known only as Offred - Or "Of Fred". Her only worth is serving in the totalitarian regime of Gilead. Although the book was written more than 30 years ago, there are chilling parallels to the world and politics we see today. I can only recommend it to anyone who wants to read a story about how wrong a society can go when we allow politics to become radical and become compliant in protectinc civil rights.
