The Night Shift with some twists

Bewertung aus Winterthur am 21.03.2026

Bewertungsnummer: 3084323

Bewertet: eBook (ePUB)

I read the book within a few nights and it was hard to put it down. The story lets you guess but takes unexpected twists. It has a satisfying end so it's absolutely worth reading till the end.

A story with a deja vu

Bewertung (Mitglied der Book Circle Community) am 25.02.2026

Bewertungsnummer: 3058057

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Two crimes in one book with striking parallels to the real case in Austin, Texas, in 1991. Four teenage girls were murdered in a Yogurt Shop Store. I have never come across a fictional book that connects to a true crime case. I was curious about how the author built the story and how much of it was based on true events. I hoped that it wouldn’t be just a copy with some thrown-in ideas. The plot is surprisingly well created and, to my satisfaction, uses the true events as a baseline. The story can definitely stand on its own and can be read by anyone. Compared to the imaginative and captivating plot, the book lags a bit with the characters. Maybe it is because of the similar names that appear or too many protagonists in total, something was off. I still give this book a rating of 4 because I liked how the author created this fictional story around a true crime case.
