Avalon and Camelot set in a story with other aspect

Bewertungsnummer: 3157995

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

There was a war between Fey and humans. The mortals won and the tyrannical king was killed. Syn is partial demi-Fey and was trained by the former king to be an assassin for him. If this would not be enough to hate kings the fact that he poisoned the river next to her home so, no demi-Fey will bit by bit die sealed her hatred. Her little sister is now slowly dying. They escaped via a portal to the human realm and lived for several years yet in London. All is changing when the Fey nobility want to restore the monarchy. For this the Veiled Court is holding the trails. Syn infiltrates this in disguise as a baroness to make sure no tyrant will rule over Fey again but most of all to find the grail. The only magical object, which can save her sisters live. So she needs to keep up her disguise as it means her death, when somebody finds out who she really is. When a warlord finds out she is an imposter he forces her to pose as his lover. 4,5 stars so I round up to 5 Great start into this series! I really liked the writing, the world created here and the characters. We have here the Avalon and Camelot story with the known names set in a different setting. I really like this. In this world the Fey once ruled over Britain. Mortals won und now they hunt down Fey and kill them. I like this idea. We learn bit by bit the hard and brutal past of Syn. This is well woven into the storyline here. That she loves her little sister so much, is willing to risk all to make sure she survives is well written. For me she is really a great character. I like how she interacts with her old childhood friend Tristan who supports her in this spy action for the Avalon Tower, to learn what past they shared. Also who she interacts with Rion, the warlord, and their banter I enjoyed quite a lot. The Veiled Court with the trial has a great atmosphere. All there are rivals, they all fight to become the new Fey ruler. This is ruthless and killing is normal. We have good plot twists here and I look forward for the next book.
