I absolutely love the atmosphere in gothic romance books and whenever I see one, I just need to read it. Lakesedge by Lyndall Clipstone is the most recent one I read and it was just absolutely beautiful and it is one of my new favorite books.
Violeta lives with her brother and mother in a small town that is supervised by the Sylvanan family. There are many rumors about them especially Rowan Sylvanan and he is feared by all. When they have to give their tithe, he is interested in Leta’s brother Arien who has dark magic. And so they have to come to his estate Lakesedge.
Nothing is as it seems with Rowan or Lakesedge and with every page you uncover more of it. It deals with monsters, magic and alchemy, a cursed lake and the sinister death god Lord Under. And through it all the sparks between Leta and Rowan only grow stronger.
If you want to read an incredibly beautiful and atmospheric gothic romance, I highly recommend this one. 5 stars.
