When the Moon Hatched Moonfall Vol.1

A kickass female assassin and dragons? That’s all I need to know. I’m in. I expected a fun, fast read—something enjoyable but quickly forgotten. What I got instead was a world so rich, dense, and original that I still haven’t shaken it off. This isn’t just another fantasy filled with fae, elves, or vampires. This is something entirely new: a world with its own language, its own magic system, and creatures I’ve never seen mentioned in any other book. It’s immersive, bold, and incredibly detailed. I love when a book refuses to be rushed—when it demands your full attention because every page holds meaning—and yet it’s so compelling, you still can’t stop reading. No, this isn’t an easy read. You’ll need the glossary and the map. But trust me, it’s worth it. The language is vivid and lyrical, and the pacing flows effortlessly from breathless action to slow, intimate moments. Raeve, Kaan, and the dragons got under my skin. I love Raeve’s fierceness, her amnesia, and the haunting mystery hiding in the shadows of her forgotten past. I love the slow reveal, the aching tension, and the heartbreak that blindsided me more than once. This book wrecked me. It made me cry. And I’ll be suffering—happily—until the next one comes out. Some books fade when you close the cover. This one lingers. Like a scar. Like a spell.

The book caught my attention when it started being compared to ACOTAR and was labelled as one of the best romantasy of the year. And when I saw that it was a THICK book, I had to have it. Did it remind me of 5 different fantasy books I’ve read? Yes. But it had everything I loved about them. The worldbuilding and magical system were intriguing, the relationships in this book were wonderful, & the different POVs, diary entries, & plot twists were so fun.
