Emotional, action-packed, thrilling, a humor that consists of 90% memes and amazingly deep worldbuilding. The Grimm Dark World full of necromancy clashes fantastically with Gideon's disinterested and rebellious perspective. My tip for anyone who wants to read something queer and fresh.

I read this book a year ago, and I still think about it every day. It's funny, smart, tragic, a little bit romantic, and completely unlike anything else I've ever read. Tamsyn Muir is a brilliant writer, and this book is delightful from start to finish.

Was kommt heraus, wenn man Fantasy mit Science-Fiction und Gothic Horror vermischt, etwas Mystery und viele Skelette dazugibt? Anscheinend dieses amüsante Buch hier. Außer Nekromanten, einer originellen Welt und Fechtduellen im Renaissance-Stil hat "Gideon the Ninth" auch wunderbar schnippische Charaktere und Humor an den unerwartetsten Stellen zu bieten. Von einem Seitenhieb zum anderen zanken sich Nekromantin Harrow und ihre Leibwächterin Gideon durch das Buch, bis sie irgendwann unvermeidlich zusammenarbeiten müssen, um Mysterien zu lüften und Morde aufzuklären. Mein persönliches Highlight in diesem doch recht speziellen Buch waren neben den köstlichen Dialogen die sorgsam ausgearbeiteten Kampfszenen, bei denen sowohl Fans von Knochengolems als auch Rapieren voll auf ihre Kosten kommen. Eine gewagte, aber grandios gelungene Genrekombination!
