Rezension

I read (in one long, long sitting) Stephen King's fabulous Fairy Tale and it was just such a trip! A trip to a magical, terrifying land where wonders and horrors are one. But also a trip back home- to that prose that lulled me into nightmares in my teens. The voice of the King Guillermo del Toro

In my opinion one of his best novels

This book contains so many great fantasy ideas. I read it in a couple of days because it is an extremely gripping & enjoyable tale. The other world is both a place you want to be and not want to be.

As long as there are butterflies, there is hope. It all starts with an ordinary small town with normal people, no one suspects anything. Expect that strange-behaving old man who lives in that dilapidated house up on the hill. An unexpected event brings him and Charlie, a kid in the neighborhood, together and an unusual friendship begins to evolve. Charlie learns about secrets he would never have imagined, but he is eager to find out more. Once Charlie is catapulted into this other world, he is burdened with a dangerous task he will hardly be able to fulfill alone. As soon as Charlie descends the stairs, a new world begins to unfold. Empis a place with a horrible past and hopeful people for a better future. To protect what he has come to love, there is only one thing left for him to do in the end. Something that should have been done a long time ago. This will be a difficult decision, perhaps the most difficult of all. Fairy Tale is similar to other books the author has written, especially the ones with traveling to other worlds. Again the main character is a young boy, the author paints a much larger picture of this other world you see unfold right in front of your eyes. There is much more deepness, a surprise around every corner, adventure, and in parts witty writing. In the end, one can only hope for a happy end and that the good ones prevail, but as it is a book written by Stephen King, one can expect an entirely different one. I enjoyed that visit to that other world, and also that not-typical fairy tale ending.

May the good prevail.
