    People make gods, and, for better or worse, gods make people.

    I absolutely adored everything about this book, it was phenomenal! The world was so vibrant and alive, teeming with history and ancient beings; the characters were so real and human, always flawed and always interesting; the prose was beautiful and evocative. I simply cannot fault it! Funerals are for the living. The dead don't mind what the world does to them. The plot takes us on a winding adventure rooted in a world overflowing with magic. It’s unputdownable and so much fun to read. I cannot wait for the next book and I will fight anyone I must to get my hands on it!

    You are not welcome here, Godkiller.

    I picked this book up because it was said to be a great fantasy tale with "The Witcher" vibes. And what can I say I did not get disappointed. We follow the pov of four different and amazing characters with different goals but the same destination. Set in a beautiful but cruel world I can´t wait to read more about and interesting concepts of magic and godly powers this was a book I couldn´t read fast enough and when I was done I was left craving more.

    Beautiful Debut Fantasy

    I'm so happy to say that I finally found fantasy I enjoy and I'm excited for! Godkiller was very hard for me to put down and I enjoyed it so much! We follow Kissen the Godkiller, Elogast the retired knight now baker, Inara a noble girl and Skediceth, the God of white lies who is somehow tied to Inara. I enjoyed the different POV's and I loved to get to know the characters. I found them to be very dynamic and I very much enjoyed their relationships to each other. The journey those four main characters follow reminded me a lot of The Witcher which I'm not mad about. The world building and pacing was very well done in my opinion and I'm keen to find out more about the world, gods and people. Please don't let me wait too long for the next book!

    Etwas langatmig

    Godkiller ist ein spannendes Fantasy Buch, welches für meinen Geschmack jedoch etwas zu langatmig ist. Toll an diesem Buch finde ich, dass es aus verschieden Perspektiven geschrieben ist, insgesamt vier Personen erzählen diese Geschichte. Dies ermöglicht der Leserschaft sich besser in die unterschiedlichen Personen sich hineinzuversetzen und ihr Handeln kann man so einfacher nachvollziehen. Dies finde ich deshalb so toll, weil die Charaktere sehr unterschiedliche Motive haben, aber gemeinsam unterwegs sind. Ich finde diese Buch ideal für Lesende die noch nie oder nur sehr selten Fantasy Bücher lesen, da es anders als viele Bücher aus diesem Bereich, “relativ” nahe an der realen Welt spielt. Es gibt zwar Götter die in Erscheinung treten aber zum Beispiel keine Gestaltwandler. Alles in allem hat mir diese Buch gut gefallen, auch wenn es an einigen Stellen für mich zu langfädig war. Das Buch hat auch fast 450 Seiten und ist damit relativ lang.

    Gutes Buch

    Ich habe das Buch als Blind Date bei Thalia gekauft und war erstmal hin und weg von Cover. Die ersten paar Seiten haben mich dann erstmal ganz schön erschüttert. Inhaltlich hatte ich manchmal Schwierigkeiten der Handlung so richtig zu folgen, vermutlich vor allem weil ich das Gefühl hatte ich weiß viel zu wenig über das Magiesystem und über das Konzept der Götter. Darüber hätte ich gerne mehr erfahren. Ich fand die Charaktere ansprechend, aber es viel mir manchmal schwer mit ihnen mitzufühlen. Der romantische subplot war meiner Meinung nach eher unpassend, vielleicht wäre es besser gewesen diesen in Buch zu erkunden und nur dezente Hinweise in Buch 1 zu verbauen. Ich denke ich werde den zweiten Teil auch irgendwann lesen, da mich das Ende schon etwas neugierig gemacht hat. Es ist ein gutes Buch, aber ich hatte das Gefühl dass irgendwas fehlt. Das hört sich jetzt alles negativer an als es eigentlich soll. Trotz meiner Kritik bin ich sehr schnell durch das Buch geflogen und denke die 4 Sterne hat es sich verdient.

    An epic debut

    I was completely hooked after reading the prologue! I could barely put it out of my hands. I really enjoyed the diverse protagonists and how their relationships to each other changed over the course of the book.

    an awesome adventure

    "Godkiller" just has it all. A quest-like plot, a romance sub-plot and a lot of action. Hannah Kaner wrote a beautiful, fast-paced story and I just did not want to stop reading it. Kaner created a diverse set of characters who are all very, very different but are united by a common destination. The world building is great and the book contains a lot of representation of sexuality and mental and physical illness and deals respectfully with these topics. "Godkiller" is an awesome adventure and a marvelous start for this new trilogy.

    Wer ist hier sterblich?

    Eine einbeinige Götterschlächterin, ein verlogener Gott in Gestalt eines Wolpertingers, ein ehemaliger Ritter und ein soeben verwaistes Mädchen. Die Gemeinschaft von Abenteurern mitsamt Quest sorgt noch immer für großartige Geschichten, und zwar vor allem dann, wenn die Figuren und ihre Welt so interessant sind wie hier: Manche Götter sind uralt und scheinbar grenzenlos mächtig, andere völlig unbedeutend, aber sie alle entstammen den Wünschen und Bedürfnissen der Menschen. Als der neue König ihre Anbetung verbieten lässt und Götterschlächter damit beauftragt, sie auszulöschen, begehrt das Volk auf. In unruhigen Zeiten macht sich die kleine Gruppe auf den Weg in die Stadt, die den Göttern gehört, um zu bitten, zu feilschen und zu kämpfen. Mit "Godkiller" ist Hannah Kaner ein kraftvolles Debüt gelungen, das Lust auf mehr macht!

    "You are not welcome here, Godkiller"

    A fast-paced fantasy novel htat had me in its grip immediately - and didn't let me go. Hannah Kaner built such a strong world with mythical creatures and gods. And even that I had some trouble at first, I found my way into the story quiet fast and I really fell in love with some of the characters - especially KIssen, the godkiller. I also loved how the whole setup treated difficult topics of sexuality as of mental and physical illnesses. As Samantha Shannon said: " Will have you in its grasp from the first pages!"
